ScaleUpRetrofit.be
A major challenge in Belgium too: deeply renovate the housing stock to decarbonize it.
Why ScaleUpRetrofit.be?
This website is a deliverable of the LIFE GIGA REGIO FACTORY project (Nov 2022 – Oct 2025): taking the next step in market uptake and industrial development of more affordable, industrialized “Net Zero” energy renovation solutions. The project has received funding from the European Union’s LIFE programme under grant agreement No. 101077258 — LIFE21-CET-BUILDRENO.
The GreenWin innovation cluster, one of the Belgian partners in the project, adapted this website—together with its partner Buildwise in particular—to reflect the many other initiatives in Belgium aimed, in the longer term, at rolling out a structured market inspired by the European, and even global, EnergieSprong® methodological approaches.
ScaleUpRetrofit.be is designed as a tool to help pioneers of industrialized, decarbonized energy renovation move forward together towards structuring the Belgian market for supply and demand.
Share deliverables and tools from collaborative projects on the topic, in particular those of LIFE GigaRegio Factory (see the Projects initiatives showcase page and the Resources page);
Connect private-sector and academic researchers;
Share technical and methodological content to discover here;
Identify supply- and demand-side stakeholders in Belgium who want to contribute to market structuring—contact us for more information;
Connect Belgium to the EnergieSprong® movement;
Feed the website collaboratively.
The industrialization of a process, a sector, or an economy is a process. In other words, it means adopting a quality system, working methods, and processes inspired by industrial practices to optimize efficiency (through assured availability of materials and skills), on-time delivery, the quality and durability of construction/renovation projects, customer satisfaction, and occupants’ well-being, throughout the value chain involved in renovation/construction projects.
Industrialization is based in particular on the use of prefabrication techniques and component standardization. It also relies on integrating digital technologies and innovative management methods to streamline construction processes, starting from the design stage of the renovation/construction project. Indeed, design is the fundamental link in mass industrialization.
